THE PROJECT.

The project-which for Italy has the Province of Turin as a partner-is funded under the European territorial cooperation program INTERREG IVC. It was started in January 2012 and ended on December 31, 2014.

The overall goal of the project is to improve the effectiveness of local development policies that can influence the operating environment of the life science industry. Efforts will also be made to promote cooperation at regional and European levels, with the aim of harnessing the growth and innovation potential of the sector, which can play a key role in the development of regional economies.

The project also has some sub-objectives:

  • Explore and develop new models to improve cooperation among health care stakeholders, identifying solutions for regulatory problems that hinder the diffusion of new technologies.
  • Explore the many options for facilitatingSME access to finance and the design of innovative industry-specific financial systems.
  • Explore options for improving SME management skills and know-how transfer on available training programs.

Activities under the project, in order to achieve its objectives, include the collection and analysis of local economic data and best practices, the organization of thematic workshops and specific master classes as well as the development of implementation plans and analysis of adopted policies.

The Silvano Fumero Bioindustry Park/BioPmed Cluster, together with the University of Turin Business Incubator 2i3T, supports the Province of Turin in the implementation of project activities at the local level.
